President Simpson arrives tomorrow!

Sooo turned out to be an energetic week. Full of new adventures! To update you from last week’s email. I was feeling discouraged because I was staying with my companion that I’ve been with for 5 months.. But during my personal study on Tuesday morning it hit me...I was so stuck up in my own pride and I didn’t want to come down. I wanted things that I thought were best for me instead of looking at the other side of it. God’s side. What lesson is he really trying to teach me? And I found it in Tuesday’s personal study. The lord wanted (and wants me to continue to) be humble!!
I read the talk from General Conference "Be Thou Humble". By Elder Snow I believe it was. Anyway so I opened up to Elder Sakala that morning and told him I was sorry for how I was acting and that I understand that I need to humble myself and be a better person. (I Repented)
And then the new guys came to the apartment. Elder Friday from Nigeria and his trainee comp Elder Kamara from Sierra Leone.
So again I’m the only American. It’s all good though! I kind of keep to myself. Go to be a lot earlier than the other Elders but its good to have others in the apartment. It’s not so lonely anymore...although it is a lot messier!

This whole week we've been on splits with the new Elders in the area to show them around and show them members. So I haven’t taught a lesson with Elder Sakala for the whole week and tbh it’s a lot different. Once you're with someone for a long time you kind of have a set teaching style and know when to come in and or let the other person speak. But once you go on splits it all changes. So it was a good learning experience.
This last Saturday we went to a wedding that was being held at our stake center to see how a Ghanaian wedding was like... Nothing like an American wedding I’ll tell you that! hahaha not in a bad way but Ghanaians don’t really like showing affection toward each other so it was kind of funny to watch.
Sunday we had a great turn out!! Bro Eric came (by himself) but he’s really enjoying the teachings and is planned to be baptized this next Sunday. Hopefully he comes to church!!
As well Sis Mercy and her 2 kids Nancy and Kofi came to church!! I think she enjoyed as well. I know Nancy enjoys a lot.
So that was our week!!
President Snow, the former mission president goes home tomorrow and then President Simpson and his wife come!!! Not every one can say they have 3 State championship Texas HS football rings and 3 mission Presidents ha ha ha... and hopefully I won’t need a 4th.

Thanks to everyone for the emails and love they send! Thanks for all your support!! I love and miss y’all!! May God guide and direct you for good!
Have a great week!

4th Transfer and I'm staying in Winneba

Alright, well hello again after another week!! Hope everyone had a good one. As for me I caught a little sickness and havent been 100% all week but I'm pushin' through. It seems I'm struggling a little bit. We have transfers this week but I'll be staying in the same place with the same comp for another transfer. This will be #4 together. Thats a long time. We dont really get along well but I guess the Lord is trying to get a message through to me. I will start searching for what lesson he's trying to get me to learn. Also they're adding 2 new elders in our area and they'll also be in our apartment!!! FINALLY!! We'll have new people to talk with!haha
This last week we had a Zone training meeting with the mission president and the APs. It was really nice, we learned more about working with members and how to make our proselyting efforts more effective. This upcoming week we've already made plans with members to come and help us teach some of our investigators. Which if they could we can have more potential for baptisms. It really helps when the investigator knows a member or has them to fellowship with.
To follow up about Bro Eric, Peter and Sis. Mercy. They didn't come to church this week. sooo that means baptismal dates will be pushed! Although Mercy sent her kids to church and they enjoyed it and told their mother how much fun they had. Hopefully that helps the whole family come next week!
Something I studied this last week was a talk from the May general conference. I forgot the name of the talk but it was speaking about the holy ghost and how we have to work for the companionship of the holy ghost. Something we always have to be striving for and worthy of. In fact I've been thinking lately if I really know myself, if the spirit is speaking to me, or if he's not. It's something I'd like to get better at... looking and listening to the promptings of the holy ghost. If we become familiar with the way the spirit speaks to us, we will better recognize it among the different voices in this world. I know as I learn to decipher the holy spirit in my life that it will be the key to preaching by the spirit and being guided by it.
I know this church and the restored gospel of Jesus Christ is true!! It makes me so happy to have the knowledge of this gospel and to know we can be with our families for eternity. I know that God has blessings in store for us as we keep his commandments. God loves us. HE won't ever abandon us, he'll just test us to make us stronger. I know GOD loves you all!!
I love and miss y'all too.
Have a great week!

Bedazzled

Last week before transfers!! And to be honest I think I’ll stay in the same area again probably until August or September! But it’s all good. I do enjoy this area and the members in the ward. And I guess it’s true the longer you stay in an area the better your relationship becomes with the members...
Even though we are still somehow struggling to have the help of members when we go to see people. Which is a total bummer because we have a lot of strong investigators that could be baptized if we had the members fellowship them.

Starting with a man named Eric. We were first teaching his wife back in February. Yeah a long time ago, but we've stuck with them and now we've been teaching the father for a while and he is a great guy! Really powerful and wants to know the truth. We've taught him all of lesson 1 and are on lesson 2 now. This last Sunday he finally came and visited us at the church and he now has a list full of questions!! A lot of members did greet him and we had him meet with the bishop so I think things will continue to go swell! Fingers crossed and praying!

Next is the family we met a few weeks ago. We've taught all of lesson 1 now. The fathers name is Peter, the wife is sis Mercy. They have 3 kids. They are all at baptism age and then They also stay in the same compound as their grandmother. The Grandmother's youngest daughter also stays there. So Sunday evening we went and taught them about the Book of Mormon. The grandmother loved everything we shared with her. When we told her how Joseph Smith received the plates she was like "WOW, Isn’t God amazing!!" ha ha ha She was bedazzled! So we continue teaching them!
Then everyone remembers Mary. The investigator that I love!! Well we can’t baptize her because of her husband’s polygamist marriage but to be honest she’s already a strong "member". She gave us a nice referral and she wants to start her family history!! So yeah, she’s still amazing!
So yesterday at church it started pouring rain!! Crazy storm! which I actually love because the weather gets really cold. (officially rainy season!) And the clouds and cool weather (80 degrees) have been a blessing throughout the week. Anyway so we had to go see the family after church. So the rain stopped for a while and because they live far we had to take a taxi to their place. It was so muddy we decided not to ride our bikes. So we get there and it started raining again. It continued all throughout the lesson. We we're struggling to get to the road because there’s a bunch of small rivers around us and it's super muddy. I stepped in several puddles which covered my shoes. I’d just like to say thanks to my parents who bought me my proselyting shoes (AKA the BOOT) because while other missionaries joke about me wearing military boots, my feet have stayed completely dry no matter how deep the puddle is. Meanwhile they, other missionaries, have soggy socks and shoes. SO THANKS MAMMA AND POPS! I LOVE YOU!
This coming week, actually tomorrow, we have zone training with the Mission President and the APs...and apparently he’s making big changes... it should be interesting! Still think it’s funny that we have these changes from our mission president and then in 2 weeks we'll have a new mission president who most likely will make changes of his own. Life is about change right?? Repentance is a changing process...I guess a mission is too. ha ha ha.
Anyway that’s my past week. Thanks for the emails!! I love hearing how everyone is back home. Keep smiling and sail on!
Love y’all

6/6/2016

Another week flown by!!! How great is life?? Very great!!
Soo nothing big this week!! We did have a lot of progression in our teaching pool.
Wednesday I had the opportunity to go on exchanges with the Zone leaders. Our ZL’s (zone leaders) are really cool guys! One is Elder Paddon from my very first apartment. From 9 months ago! haha wow.. It’s cool to see us all growing up. So I was actually with the other comp, Elder Broadhead from Cali. He’s a cool guy. They are actually training a new missionary so there were 3 of us. I also went to their area called Swedru. So after our DCM we left to their area. They themselves have been having a hard time finding people to teach as well. So we did a lot of walking and not much teaching. But the lessons we did have it was great to see how Elder Broadhead taught things. That night was had a good time just talking with each other. He goes home in October so he very excited about that. Because there were 3 of us, I slept in  a hammock that Elder Paddon had and it was actually really comfortable!!

So like I said our teaching pool is starting to increase again. While I was on exchange, Elder Sakala found a family that was interested. This finding was done through service. The lady was weeding out side here house and they stopped to help. But since then we’ve met with the family and already have a baptismal date set for the husband and wife for the 3rd of July. They asked during the lesson "so what do we have to do to be baptized in your church".  I love when people ask that question!! And again on Sunday, we received a referral from the other Elders. A man (about 20 +) showed up to their service and asked, what do I have to do to be baptized. This past week was also fast and testimony meeting (a meeting where members of the congregation get up to share their testimony and faith in Jesus Christ). I was fasting for help finding new investigators in our area, and that we would find the people that the Lord is preparing. I received the answer! So now that we're again building our teaching pool with good people, transfers come in 2 weeks…and anything could happen. I actually hope I stay in the area. I have a good relationship with the members here.

Also about fast & testimony meeting, I’ve made it a personal goal to share my testimony as often as I can. So for the last 3 months, I’ve shared my testimony on fast Sunday.  Just my simple testimony of what I know to be true and it makes me feel better when I do. So I plan to continue to share each fast Sunday.
This week I believe we're planning to go to the temple again with Lawrence. There’s a lot to look forward to! Remember, if you’re feeling down or blue or any kind of sadness this week, just remember that God loves you!! And be happy because it’s something YOU control:)))
Smile even in the hardest times!!!
Love and miss ya!! Thanks for the emails!!
Have a blessed week!
You’re all in my prayers
Love
Elder Morris!
