President Jay Jones of our Allen, Texas Stake came over last night to set apart Garrett as a missionary. He spent a few minutes talking to us and sharing some scriptures. He encouraged and counseled Garrett on several great things. He gave him a copy of a "missionary model" that he created which showed the SPIRIT in the middle and then the different key components of a successful missionary. It was great to be at his feet listening and learning.
Bishop Wilson and his wife, Xela also came to be with us. That was wonderful because we have had a long standing close friendship with the Wilson's ever since we moved here 5 years ago so it felt like we had family here with us. Chad, Bishop, and President Jones joined together in the blessing and setting apart. President Jones blessed Garrett with many wonderful things and taught great principles throughout the blessing. The spirit filled the room and we were all edified and comforted. I have no doubt that Elder Morris will do amazing things as he listens to the Holy Ghost and continually heeds those promptings.
We are sure gonna miss our boy but we are so grateful for him and his willingness and desire to serve the Lord for 2 years in Ghana! For those wondering why Garrett is not wearing a suit it is because his mission paperwork said "no suits", possibly due to the low poverty of the country and perhaps the heat and humidity.
Garrett had to give his puppy one last big hug! I'm not sure who will miss who the most?! They have quite a special bond.
We're hoping Rigby doesn't go into depression with his best buddy gone.
